Let’s Travel! Are there places you want to go boating that you have never gone because you lacked the experience or thought they cost too much? Bluegrass Sail & Power Squadron takes exciting on the water adventures all over the country and all over the world. We get great group rates and you are in the company of experienced knowledgeable boaters.
People always ask “Where do we go?”
House boat trips on Cave Run Lake and Lake Cumberland are great weekend getaways.
Cruises on the Ohio River and Kentucky Lake give great opportunities to explore new areas.
Cruising the Chesapeake Bay, the Great Lakes or Florida Keys on sail or powerboats offers a chance for a big water experience on larger boats.
On several occasions members of the Bluegrass Sail & Power Squadron spent an exciting week traveling the canals of England. Winding their quiet way through town and country, the inland navigation of Britain offers boaters, walkers and cyclists a unique insight into a fascinating, but once almost lost, world.
Almost annually we fly into Tortola, British Virgin Islands for a great week of trade wind sailing. The trip always involves swimming and hiking at the world famous Baths of Virgin Gorda, and a visit to the Bitter End Yacht Club. Of course no BVI trip is complete without a sail to Anagada to visit Loblolly Bay and for the best lobster around. We visit Foxy’s and spend the night in Little Harbor on Yost Van Dyke with the best Rum Punch ever. Of course we will visit Cane Garden Bay and see Jimmy Buffett’s “Tire Swing” that he wrote a song about. We may even take a side trip to the oldest operating distillery in the Caribbean (they have samples). Don’t worry there is lots more to do including snorkeling in caves on Norman Island. If you like to swim, snorkel, eat, drink or even sail you will have a blast. If you don’t know how we can teach you.
For those interested in a few more creature comforts we offer Surf & Turf trips where we stay in house and boat all day. Our most recent adventure took us to the Bahamas where we spent a week on Elbow Cay with its great beaches, restaurants and snorkeling. We spend our days in the surf exploring the waters of Abaco Sound and the Atlantic Ocean on 24 foot center console boats. Day trips to such places as Great Guana Cay and Man-O-War Cay to see descendents of the original settlers and the center of the islands ‘ship building industry, as well as snorkeling at the Bahamas Land & Sea Park. Some of us just stay on the turf and walk to Tilloo Cut and Tahiti Beach or take the golf cart into town and see world famous Candy Stripe Lighthouse in Hope Town or just shop, or enjoy the best Rum Punch ever. Each evening is spent in your very own local island home.
If any of these places sound interesting to you, let us know, we love to have fun on the water, and we would like you to join us on our next adventure.
